So I'm helping a friend repair a couple of 2.0 Duo's and I've never used dual extruders. How the heck do you specify (in Repetier)what colors to use where? I can't find anything in Slic3r, either. Confused. Anyone know a good starting place?
Might not be able to specify colors, but maybe just extruder 1 and extruder 2. I don't use either of those software options, but here is the Slic3r dual extruder setup: http://manual.slic3r.org/expert-mode/multiple-extruders
In Repetier's "Printer Settings," in the Extruder tab you can specify the nozzle diameter and color for each extruder. In Slic3r, in the "Object Placement" tab you assign each stl file of your print to an extruder. If it's a one color print you'd use the same extruder for each.
If you're printing a two colored object, you center each on your print bed which should combine the two stl's to make one print.
I'm no guru by any means and a complete noob myself. I just figured out how to get one nozzle to spit out here and the other nozzle to spit out there. I'm going to be posting my own thread on how to get the two aligned better.
On my Geeetech, the "printer settings" in Repetier has blocks to assign colors to each extruder. I can't see where this would be of any benefit other than your Slic3r preview would have the colors you'd like in them. The first thing you would need to know is which extruder is #1 and which is #2. Trace your wires to your controller (sorry, but I'm not familiar with anything other then the GT2560 Aruino-like board) might help. Otherwise, the only way that I would know would be to load in two filaments, get things heated up and see which one squirts out the print.
