    Da Vinci Mini Printing Failures

    I have a Da Vinci Mini and ever since i have started using it I have reached a problem while printing certain models. Every time i try and print a model with a flat base it reaches a height of about 3mm and completes three quarters of that layer then it stops the print and gives me the warning: 'Filament jammed ! Please check out Extruder 1 and clean up the nozzle'. Whether I clean the nozzle or leave it (both of which I have done about 5 times) if i try the print again it will print fine until 3mm and the same problem happens, and if i try printing a different design without a flat base it also prints fine and usually finishes.This has occured with multiple different designs, all of which can and have been printed on other printers and i am unsure of anyway of solving it. I have tried printing with multiple different settings, over wifi and with a cable but the problem always happens. I am quite confident this is not a problem with cleaning the extruder nozzle.

      Hello. I was wondering if you were still having your problem.

      For the last week I've had a very similar problem. For me If I printed a small job, less than about 20-25 mins on the excellent print setting it would come out okay. If it was longer than that it would stop almost at the same spot every time, the warn :'Filament jammed ! Please check out Extruder 1 and clean up the nozzle'. I did the standard clean (from the bottom), advance (from the top and bottom) and "deep clean" of the nozzle and as you described it would fail at the same spot if I cleaned or didn't. I could print the same piece one at a time over and over, but not 2 pieces in the same job.

      Right before this happened I had a filament issue in the housing near the drive wheel/idle wheel encoder. For some reason the filament started filling up the housing and bent one of the little 3 pin connectors.(see photo) In fact it broke the inner most pin, which I didn't notice until the printer started acting up. Finally I troubleshooted the problem, found the broken pin. I straightened the connect, ran a jumper wire (see 2nd photo) and verified continuity with my multi-meter. I put it all back together and currently I am 1hr 21mins into a print job that typically failed at about 20 mins. (and it just finished before I finished this entry)

      Long story short you may not have broken pin, but you may have an open circuit between the encoder wheel and the board along small 3 wire cable. Without doing anything as drastic as I did you could probably check the continuity of the small cable (back of one board to the back of the other) with the unit off. If you don't get continuity there is a good chance you have the same issue as I do, It could be something a simple as the cable. That little cable might get stressed when we "clean the encoder wheel and drive gear", since it dangles holding the board up while we clean.

      With me it seemed to be the third pin (orange wire). Also the second pin was depressed a fair amount (until I straightened the connector).
