  • Hopefully I'm not too late to the show. I've been gone a while, still printing though. I'd love to help you out Jack.

To start out, I have owned a Solidoodle 2 for probably close to a year now. My first printer experience was with makible and their makibox. It seemed like a good idea, but after I ordered it back in Nov of 2013 I have yet to receive a printer or a refund. So after a month or two after my failed ETA I received my Solidoodle on time. Now I purchased my Solidoodle 2 as...

    @gabe Thanks for the mention.

@mitchell Welcome to the forums! I am a lot more old school when it comes to metal work (forge and hammer), but I wish I had a plasma cutter for sure. The site Gabe mentioned is www.productchart.com and go to 3D printers. Its by no means all inclusive but it had some less heard of printers on there. 100 microns (0.1mm) layer height (read as resolution) is the standard though most of us print at 0.2mm or 0.3mm to save time if its not absolutely necessary...

    Solidoodle Press

Hi everyone just trying to see how many of you on here pre-order the solidoodle press like me? I'm getting pretty bummed with little these delays and thinking about possibly cancelling and tossing in more money to get a flash forge creator pro. Do you think they are worth the money or should I wait it out for a few more weeks to get the solidoodle press? Thanks in advanced

@sajad To start I want you to know that I own a Solidoodle Pro 2nd gen and I love it. That being said I feel like the 4th gen and the Press are a different direction that is not for me. If I had some kind of company loyalty I'd buy the Workbench, Solidoodle's best product that I can tell.

To answer your question about the case; An enclosure is utilized to maintain a heated build chamber and prevent air drafts from blowing onto your print. This is a common measure against the rapid cooling...

    Hi all,
I have a question about these printers in the first post and their difference to Solidoodle printers.
Is there a problem if the printer doesn't have walls? for example Printbot Simple doesn't have walls but Micro3D have that. what is their effect?
Another question: what are the differences between Solidoodle4, Solidoodle Press (http://www.solidoodle.com/) and Micro3D?

    thanks all

  • The Newest Look in 3D Printers for the Home

With all of the buzz about 3D printed technologies, it’s hard not to want to have the limitless power of creation in one’s own home. Although 3D printers are becoming more affordable and more widely available, many of the designs leave much to be desired. Futuristic and almost scary-looking, many 3D printers would stick out like a sore thumb even in the most progressive of homes. Solidoodle Press hopes to change all of that with its introduction of a new compact 3D printer that looks just like many...

    Anytime

Do let us know what you pick or if you get caught between decisions. We seem to have a large number of Prusa I3 users, probably followed by davinci as the next most numerous. Not too much in the way of SLA.

I know there's at least one other person on the Solidoodle train. I wonder if they got their Press yet.

  • Printer prints first 3 layers then moves up?

My solidoodle press prints the first 3 layer of my design and then moves up about 30mm to continue printing on nothing. I don't know where in my model it would tell it to do that and I don't know if this issue is common? Made in sketchup fixed in fablab.

Thanks for the response! Just looking for something i don't really need to tinker with and can start printing decent waulity prints. I had a solidoodle press and had bad luck with my ubit. I ended up returning it and now I'm waiting to decide what I want to buy for my next 3d printer
