    Autodesk Ember 3D Printer

Hi everyone. I'm a long time lurker on the forum but I finally signed up today to say hi and also to post about my Ember 3D printer for sale. It's a great unit and I'm sad to see it go, but my workplace has a Stratasys Objet and I'm not getting much use of the Ember. Here's a link to the ebay auction:

    Pixologic Zbrush VS. AutoDesk Mudbox

Hello again friends, I wanted to provide some insight on the software packages ZBrush and Mudbox. Some of you, I am sure, are already very familiar with what the packages are and can accomplish. For those that don't know, both of the packages are very versatile.
    1. Both are great for achieving high amounts of details and fluctuating between the amount of polygons you want on your model
    2. Both allow direct exporting of your 3D models into STL formats, which are primarily used with 3D printers....

  • ALL AutoDesk 3D Software Packages - FREE to Students (non-commercial use only)

[FONT=Fixedsys]Ladies & gentlemen, I stumbled across their program some time ago, but for those interested, AutoDesk provides free educational licensing for all of their software packages free of charge. Obviously, the software cannot be used for commercial resale or services due to licensing agreements.

I highly recommend taking advantage of the program. If you are not a student, you might consider and online institution so you can at least gain access to the student licensing,

  • AutoDesk Maya - 3D Model Itsukushima Shrine 2010

3D model of Itsukushima Shrine in the Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. A project I completed a long, long time ago in 2010. I was just digging around in old 3D modeling files that I can actually show without violating NDAs/privacy agreements with other clients. Created using AutoDesk Maya

I'm not the most original when it comes to usernames for forums lol!

A calibration cube is pretty simple really.
Its essentially just a small open top cube, its made to check that the printer is printing the right size!

    eg. The cube should be 20.00mm X 20.00mm X 20.00mm with a 1.00mm wall thickness!
Print it off and get the digital calipers out and measure it... If its dab on all good!
If its not thats what you need to tweak settings...
Fusion 360 CAD/CAM software connects your entire product design & development process in a single tool. Starting at $25/month, get a free trial today.

Boundary Separating from Infill with PETG

This is my 1st question in these forums and so I will do my best to explain my equipment, software and issue's I'm having. I purchased a Creality CR-10 (300x300x400) from GEAR BEST around December 2017. I have made quite a few modifications since I bought it they include:
    • E3D HotEnd so I could print ABS and NylonX
    • BLTouch to save me leveling time, started with an EzABL, that did noit work so I tried another and it too failed so I went with a mechanical sensor instead of a inductive. Best thing

Hi all just stopping in to say hello. New to the forums. I'm looking forward to reading some posts and collaborate on a few printing topics.

Guess I should have mentioned my hardware. I have a Creality CR-10 (300x300x400) that I bought December 2017. I have made quite a few modifications since I bought it they include:

added a second Z-axis (belt driven with gears)
    double gear extruder
    built an enclosure
    removed the printer...

Look at Autodesk Fusion 360. You can get a hobbyist license for free and I use it for all my designs and mods to STL files.

    Is this printable?

Hey all. I have Zero experience with 3d printing or 3d modeling. I plan on downloading Autodesk 360 and watching some tutorials. I want to make a simple speaker grill for a specific speaker so measurements have to be pretty exact. I want to make a raised a grill so there is a flat part that screws to the speaker and then a raised part about an inch above it. The picture is from a google search for basically what i want to make out of one piece. Is that possible or would it perhaps be better to make...

Define "realistic designs" a bit more if you could. Are you aiming to make fluid/detailed, organic shapes via 3D sculpting or are you looking for a mesh modeling environment? (Click on the terms for their respective wikipages)

Maya, 3DS Max, and Blender are considered jack-of-all-trades modeling/animation suites that do well if you're looking for a vertex mesh modeling environment. I'd suggest starting with Blender since you can't argue with free and see if its toolset matches...

    3ds vs Maya vs Blender

Hello all, I'm not familiar at all with this type of software. I've been using Fusion 360, and have used Pro-E for modeling. I am wanting to incorporate realistic designs into my modeled parts. Meaning I need to have specific dimensions, but also want to have Dragons, Skulls, Faces etc on the part. I figured if I am using Fusion 360 it would probably be a good idea to stick with Autodesk software.

Seems from what I have been reading 3ds is more what I'm looking for and Maya would...

  • Good Morning and a great big Hello from Yorkshire.....

Well, I have borrowed a 3D printer of a really good mate of mine and I must admit to being in awe at what it does and its potential. It is nothing fancy at all but I am almost sure I will be getting myself a new toy very soon.

Now, what I am wanting to create are the connectors on the ends of Car Wiring Looms. I am looking for any pointers on where I can maybe find a similar one I can then modify, although I have never played with 3D modelling before, so it would be a pretty steep...
