Welcome to the forum, Jackie! It really depends on what you are planning to print and the budget you have available. Will you be offering general print services or are you wanting to print a specific type of object?

@AndrewBougie is right, it does depend on what you are going to be printing. If you want to offer a general 3D printing services then you will need to have a versatile 3D printer. PLA is the easiest material to print with although we also like PETG. If you are going to use ABS or Nylon you will need an enclosed build area or at least a heated print bed.
The Ultimaker 2+ series is probably a good place to start as these are very versatile and have a good solid, well earned, reputation. But in some sense it may be a good idea to start off with something cheap and cheerful to learn about 3D printing, although this initial expense may have to be written off as you move towards a professional service.
The main thing to do is to read, read, read and find out what other people have done and what business models work and which ones don't. A business needs a target audience and a plan geared towards them.
We have some posts on these subjects which may give you a starting point.
