Afinia H800 or Makerbot Replicator 5th Gen?

    Greetings,

I am considering adding 3D printing to my classroom/curriculum and I have been considering the Afinia H800 and the Makerbot Replicator 5th Gen.

While there is an abundance of comparisons between the Replicator 5th gen and other machines, the data is sparse when comparing the Afinia H800 to the Makerbot Replicator 5th Gen.

Any input related to preference of the Afinia H800 Vs. the Replicator would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

we sell both the Upbox (Afinia H800) and the makerbot5th generation.

The main difference between then is that the UPBOX is an ABS specialist, although it can print PLA as well where as the 5th generation MAkerbot is designed for PLA and doesn't have a heated bed even.

UP /Afinia printers are generally very reliable work horses and the UPbox should be very versatile. The down side is that the software that runs the UP range is not very open but then again you shouldn't need this as it is designed to be very plugin and play. The advantage of the makerbot is that the print settings are more accessible but without a heated bed set up you will need to start adding hardware in order to be able to use it on different filament materials.
