    Cube 3D

I am a teacher at a middle school in NM. The classroom came equipped with a Cube 3D printer. Apparently someone before me tried to do a firmware update and powered down or otherwise interrupted the update. Is my printer a brick now? Does anyone know how to force it into the update again?

At the moment, pressing setup does nothing. The power switch will turn it off, but it can only be turned on by unplugging it and plugging back in again.

I am stuck. Can any of you help?

    Thanks

    Hi Artross26,

Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear you are having issues with your printer.

If you are able to upload a picture or even a video of what the printer is doing that would be a great help.

My understanding is that you cannot brick the board in the cube 3D. You have to refresh the firmware whilst holding the power button.

I looked at the video you linked above. Have you tried heading over to https://www.3dsystems.com/shop/support/cube/downloads where you can download the firmware for you Cube 3D printer? You can then add the firmware file to a USB and you can also download the manual there. You plug the USB in, head over to firmware, select USB key and installing new firmware there.

No. I already had the firmware on the USB, However setup will not show any options to allow the update. It actually thinks it is already updating the firmware. That's why I think someone interrupted it.

Yes. I've discovered it's a brick now, as I expected.

So what is a good 3D printer for middle schoolers? I've been researching and everything under $1000 does not seem to be a very good buy.
