    Hello,
    I'm a 3d printing newbie.
I've wanted to get my feet wet for some time.
    I'm a linux guru.
    I live on a budget.
I originally backed the infamos "peachy printer". Fortunatly, my credit card choose that moment to have a problem so I did not lose any money.
    Have a nice day.

I understand the budget. There are lots of value priced units out there now, but be sure to do your own research and read reviews. Some of the budget machines aren't worth what you pay for them. Set yourself a reasonable budget, and find something within it that you can live with.

I hear you loud and clear.
I'm used to doing this for hunting down linux supported hardware. The kernel devs don't support really crummy hardware (or minimize support), and the manufacturers don't feel like extending their hand out to a non mainstream operating system. This works against us linux users because it's difficult to put in the research to figure out the support status of any given piece of hardware as diffidences don't come from one cause. Sometimes you've got to guess, and so far I've been fortunate.
