    Help desperately needed please.

Hello everyone, please please help this sad person with these issues that I have - I have a second-hand flashforge finder printer and I find that I can't get anything to stick to the bed, I've tried painters tape, hairspray and different sticky glues and have come to the conclusion that maybe I need a heated bed, is there a heated bed that can be added to the flashforge finder to help me be able to keep the prints from moving, I am new to 3D printing not experienced in any way shape or form and I'm about to give up 3D printing just as quickly as I got into it, it's very very frustrating, plus I have another help query if you wouldn't mind, I had payed a student at a local College £200 to copy a 1:76 scale (OO) model bus for me so I could print it myself and it was created in the educational version of SolidWorks , it transpires that I can't make any changes to the file structure for the model as it is an educational version, I no longer have access to the student who did it for me, any advice I be able to give with regards to this would be much appreciated, I really hope you can help, many thanks, Chris.

where to start... I have not had a printer without a heated bed and you can still get issues with sticking, if you want great prints with minimum fuss i can't recommend the prusa mk2s highly enough (i have said this to a few posts, i don't have any relation to them, i have wasted time and money on a cheaper clone to realize that i love 3d printing and want great prints without the fuss), if you don't want to spend time and money, there are tons of printing services, there is one, 3d hubs i think where you can find a local person to print it at a cost, i think it ranges from professional to hobbyists who do the printing for you, it was mentioned that the mk2/mk2s was very popular for people who provide printing services on there.

many thanks for your message, I'd love a prusa and had not heard of it until you said which then lead me to youtube but unfortunately it's a little bit out of my price range and to be honest even if I could afford the kit version I'd probably not put it together right anyway. LOL.

To me it sounds a bed levelling issue. By level I mean level with the extruder nozzle. You want the gap between the bed and the nozzle the size of the thickness of a piece of paper. 0.1mm Use the piece of paper like a feeler gauge. You should feel a slight tug when pulling the paper out but the paper shouldn't bend when pushing it between the nozzle and bed. What kind of filament are you using? PLA filaments you can get away without a heated bed, but ABS filament it is a requirement. I'm not familiar with the flash forge printer, but I'm sure you can find a video on YouTube that'll show you how to level a bed. Also what is your extruder nozzle temperature? Every filament brand can act differently, it can take a few test to find the ideal settings. For me I run pla @ 185 and abs @ 225.

As said before you can only really print with PLA without a heated bed and then I'd use a buildtak printing sheet to get it to stick. Also make sure your head to bed gap is correct, I use 2 sheets of A4 as a rough guide.

I have (almost) solved the problem on my Creator Pro 2x by using a 2 mm. glass plate with 3M Blue self adhesive tape and no heating for the bed ( I use PLA)The tape has to be changed from time to time but not that often. Try it and you certainly will see some improvement. Not perfection, though, because there are still some issues but much, much less than what I used to encounter before adopting this method ,which my wife found somewhere in Internet.

I have two finders and they both print great. Have you calibrated the extruder? Once the bed has been levelled, calibrate the extruder, there is an option for this in the menu.

I have the finder... and initially had bed adhesion problems. If you have calibrated the extruder as mentioned in the post above then try changing your filament and DONT use PLA+ style filament if possible. Try flash forges own filament to start with and use a pritt stick on the bed. Set all slicer settings back to default and try that. If that doesn't cure it then try slowing down the speed of the 1st layer and make sure you can hear the fan running. Let us know how you get on. Also you could try lowering the temperature.
