    Broken nozzle in smart extruder

Hello guys I'm relatively new to 3d printing having just gotten my makerbot replicator 5th Gen earlier this year. When trying to change the tip on the smart extruder my dad broke it off so it's still in the extruder with the nozzle broken off. We have no idea how to get the nozzle out any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Is it broken off in the heater block? Can you remove the block?

you should be able to use an easy-out to get the rest of the nozzel threads out of the block. Just dont gorilla it.

We tried using an easy-out, the metal is too soft it won't grip it to get it out.

You 'may' be able to drill it out. Use a drill press and go really slow.Once you get to a certain point you should be able to run an tap through it and finish cleaning it out.

It would probably be easier to just buy another block. They aren't that expensive.

I have no idea where to even begin looking for the block, do you know of any sites that would possibly have one?

Aluminum 3d printer heater blocks can be found on eBay. Just check to make sure the size and shape are working.
