Hello! I just inherited a xyz aio printer that was never used, it seems like the computer is not talking to the printer. Any one have any ideas or even a starting point to check. may be a bad main board??? or a bad usb card??. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Does the computer Normally chirp when a USB device is plugged in ?... if so, is there any acknowledgement from the PC that it has a device plugged in at all ??
very often the weakest link with many printers is the Card-Reader & USB connection, as these get LOTS OF USE...
So, before you strip the printer, try using a USB lead that DOES work with.. say a paper printer & prove the USB lead is OK & the USB output on your PC are working...
THEN
if the printer still does not work.... peep in the connector port & possibly "Lift" the connector strips slightly with a pin... these can flatten out with use & then cause the connection to fail...
If the printer powers up OK & will "home" the print head ok, try heating the bed & extruder & see what works & whether it will load filament ??
See if you can load a G.Code print via an SD card ??
Then...
Maybe open her up & check the connections to the circuit board... Some USB sockets connectors are a plug/push fit to a mother board, but Most are soldered direct to the circuit board... so
as the USB connector takes a lot of twisting stress abuse, maybe check the solder joints to the pins & tracking of the PCB & see if the joints have cracked... in which case they can simply be re-flowed & will probably then work....
Also, have a look on the net for the slicing software & image viewer for this machine model & you may get some pointers from the manufacturers site too
