    File Converting.

    Hello everyone,

I was looking for a .amf file converter the other day and I stumbled on this www.3dprinteros.com. This operating system for 3D Printers has the ''Apps feature'' opportunity, one of the is the Magic Fix app. (Use the Magic Fix App to prepare designs automatically for 3D Printing.
Magic Fix converts Cad files to Stl, analyzes, repairs and rotates files for printing exactly on your unique 3D Printer. Note: only 3ds, amf, obj and stl formats are supported.), What it also does is, making any.stl file printable, really convenient and handy!
So I wanted to ask that is there even a better platform for all of this?

I didn't really take the time to click the link, but I would assume the software just makes the stl mesh watertight. There are many programs that do the same thing.

Netfabb basic does the same thing and you can export to a lot of different formats... It handles AMF files and you can save as STL or any of a couple dozen formats. Oh, and it is free.

The Printer OS project is not a bad idea but you obviously have to pay for all the bells and whistles. The main issue for us is we are not fans of having our assets and resources in the cloud due to lack of control and ownership.

I totally agree with iDig3DPrinting. I do not like proprietary formats... what happens in 6 months when you have all of your stuff in the cloud and they go under or abandon the project? At least with an open source project, the source code is there.
