    Little help
Hello everyone. I work in IT so I'm pretty comfortable with computers and tech, but after downloading and messing around with a few CAD programs, I have a few questions about 3D printing. I basically want to buy a 3D printer to make one specific item. I can even use an existing model of something else that I basically just want to crop off a section and hallow it out. What's the best program to use and what should I read to learn more? Thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Printer help
I have been searching around trying to decide on a printer to buy. A lot of the post I have seen have been looking for really cheap printers with giant build areas. I'm looking for a printer that can handle ABS/Nylon for working parts as well as PLA for prototyping. I am looking at a price range of 1000usd but could spend a little more if it is actually worth it though. I'm looking for a build area of at least 10x8x8 but bigger is better. Sorry for the redundant post but have not found any threads...

    New doesn't cover this.
As the title says I'm so new to this field, new doesn't seem to truly describe it to me. I couldnt tell you anything more than there are 3 types of machines and 3 main materials for FDM printing. What I'm looking for is a good place to teach myself everything. Google is a powerful teacher for me but I want something a bit more in depth from good sources I don't have to repeatedly verify. I'm currently a cnc programmer and opporator so I know there is plenty to learn about this stuff. I'm looking...

    Hi Everyone!
Hi everyone, i'm going to say it straight off the bat that i'm a noob when it comes to 3D printers, I did a little work with CNC routers years ago but back then 3D printers were the enormous expensive things that used UV resin and cost more than a few nice cars!

Currently I have a Prusa I3 MK8 clone that i'm having mixed results with, I can get it to move but I can't get the extruder to extrude enough PLA or even stick to the base plate, I also think the Z axis may be moving up slightly...

First 3D Printer: Can't decide which one from my short list!
    Hi Folks,
So I have been given the OK from the financial manager to spend up to $400 (Australian) on a 3D printer. Not a lot but all we have. I want a machine that works well out of the box; I don’t want to have to tinker with it. I want a build volume of over 200 mm. square. It will mainly be making ABS “structural” parts so not too worried about surface finish etc..
I have been doing a lot of research on what’s out there, it’s quite impressive what you can get. I have come to a few...

XYZ 1.0 AIO-long bars lifting at corners most recently
Hello, my name is Mark from Cleveland Ohio. I'm a professional local P&D driver and when I'm not driving I'm Pro Painting autos. I'm now 57 years old now and still feel much younger. The avatar above depicts a 1987 VW 16V Scirocco in which are now 35 years old. The photo is for attention only as mine is still in the build phase hoping to be finished this summer. The whole build including paint and heavily modded from original is all being done by yours truly! That out of the way I bought a Davinci...

    Hi from Down Under
Hello. 20 years ago I spent a year running 3 Stratasys FDM machines. I enjoyed it immensely and still have several models. Move on to today and i have finally decided that I can afford to get a machine for myself so I can make parts for the projects I do with the kids. I will put a post in new to 3D printing about what I want to do.

    So hi folks!

Is PLA or ABS better for functional prototyping?
Hello, I recall that when I used a Makerbot 2 to print a rectangular box using PLA and compared with the same object printed using ABS from Up Plus 2, the one made of PLA bent easily. I don't know if it is just a specific case but in general, which material is better for functional prototyping?

    DIY 3D Printer progress
Still a little more to do on the printer but its coming on slowly. Waiting on nuts and bolts, belts, Wire, Limit switches, some fans and a alu plate, Still need to finish the cross shaped z axis. Build area is smaller than i was hoping but this was due to changes in the z axis design.

    My First Benchy
After a week or two of tweaking, I finally got my FLSun Prusa i3 (1.75mm E3D V5 head, heated bed, aluminum frame, auto level that I can't make work) running reliably and printing consistently. Here is my first attempt at a Benchy. 190*C Hot end, 50*C bed, .2mm layers, 20% infill, MG Chemicals brand PLA.

Overall I'm quite happy with the results for this early in my 3DP career. I've still got some tuning to do in order to improve quality, but on dimensional checks this guy is within...
